4 simple steps to write an exceptional ACS RPL report:
Step 1:
Ensure you are eligible to use the RPL pathway:
Remember that not everybody can use the RPL pathway, as it requires some requirements to be fulfilled. You must fall in any of the following two categories to write an RPL report: You are eligible if you have no ICT qualifications but have 6 years of practical work experience. If you don’t even have a tertiary-level qualification, you need to have a total of eight years of relevant work experience.Choose a relevant occupation from the ANZSCO code list:
Choose a job whose job roles and responsibilities harmonize with your work experience. Your work experience must be in harmony with the occupation you have chosen to apply for.Make sure that you have all the necessary documents:
- Passport or birth certificate
- Name change proof
- Your most updated resume
- Education degree title/award
- Start date and finish date (if still working, write ‘to date’)
- Roles and responsibilities
- Work hour details (part-time or full-time)
- The country name where you worked
- Names of locations of the country if you worked in different locations of that country
- Signed letter by the authority with their name, designation and contact details
- Fulfillment of the third-party stature declaration requirements is a must.
Step: 2
Before you write the report, read the ACS guidelines for writing an RPL report:- Show your real-world work experience, and don’t include false information to impress the authority. Doing this is an invitation to a negative assessment.
- When using someone’s else ideas in your project work, clearly state the methods, diagrams and examples you used.
- Keep your RPL free from even a trivial trace of plagiarism. Don’t copy from the RPL samples that are available online. On plagiarism, you will be reported to the IBP department, which may ban you. Therefore, format your RPL report in a format similar to the samples. Those samples are only for reference purposes.
- The Australian Computer Society uses an advanced plagiarism detection tool, Turnitin. Therefore, you should write your report in your own words. Even after doing this, check for plagiarism. It is because you may have unintentional plagiarism in your report, which may lead to rejection.
- You must include relevant a job description that is closely relevant to the employment duties of the chosen occupation. If you are confused, check the ANZSCO code list again to remove confusion. Remember that irrelevancy can lead to rejection.

- Give confusion-free and complete details about the project like the affiliated company and your role in it.
- Describe the obligations and tasks that are unique to this project.
- Clearly write how your suggestions were put into practice in the creation and planning of each project. When doing so, try to highlight your strong points.
- Give a crystal-clear description of the System Analysis and Design process used in each project.
- For the illustration of your programming skills, you must mention the programming languages that were used in the project.
