Employment Reference Letter Writing Tips For An ACS RPL Report

Posted on September 5, 2022 By Paul Thomas

It doesn’t matter how excellently you write your ACS RPL report, it is worthless without an effective employment reference letter. The reason for this is that an employment reference letter is an integral part of this report.

Therefore, we have written this blog with the intention to give you a clear idea of this document and how to prepare it. However, before you know that, get a clear idea of the employment reference letter.

What is an Employment Reference Letter in an ACS RPL Report?

An employment reference letter or a recommendation letter is a document. Here, you write your entire details of the professional work, skills and experience. In short, it is a medium for you to show your capability of performing particular tasks. In simple terms, his document plays a huge role in showing your knowledge and skills in the chosen field of occupation.

Having had a clear idea of the employment reference letter, now, let’s know how to prepare it. Knowing it will definitely help you win a positive RPL ACS skill Assessment.

How to write the best employment reference letter?

  1. Write your work experience in a way that it sounds at a professional ICT level. Apart from that, it must be relevant to the nominated occupation (ANZSCO) you have chosen to apply for.
  2. You must accumulate a sufficient amount of work experience before applying for the ACS skill evaluation. For that, see the minimum work experience criteria you need to meet.
  3. Remember that work experience before fulfilling the skill level requirement is not acceptable for skilled employees. In addition to that, it is also unacceptable for migration points. In this case, ACS will assess your application as ‘not suitable due to lack of experience’.
  4. Write the start and end date of each employment in a DD/MM/YY format in an employment reference letter. If the employment is ‘current’, then write ‘To Date’. Besides that, mention the date when the reference was written.
  5. Include as many employment tasks as you can in your ACS RPL report employment reference letter. However, keep in mind that those tasks must be relevant to your nominated occupation. Remember that at least 65% of your duties here must be relevant to the chosen occupation. If it doesn’t happen, then ACS will assess the report as ‘not suitable due to lack of information’.

Other Crucial Tips for ACS RPL REPORT

  6. Work experience you did as part of a qualification is not acceptable for skilled employment. The authority will report it as ‘Concurrent Employment’.
  7. A minimum of 20 hours/week is acceptable as a full-time job. So, if including full-time or part-time in the reference, meet this requirement. Another thing to do here is to mention the work hours clearly in the reference letter.
  8. All references must have specific information from your employer. This information must be about the duties you did and the skills you applied to the job. References lacking the specific details of your duties will be taken as ‘Not suitable due to lack of information’.
  9. You must write the country’s name where you worked as an ICT professional. If having worked in multiple countries for one company, then show the specific dates. Aside from that, show the corresponding locations where you worked.
  10. Your employer or any person in authority must sign your employment reference letter. Besides that, mention their name, position and contact details of the person who made the referral.
  11. An authorized must certify your employment reference letter as a valid copy. The authority will accept only the certified copy of the employment reference letter for your ACS RPL report assessment.
  12. You must have your actual work experience in your reference letter. Don’t copy from others sources.
  13. As your employment reference is evidence of your competency, you should be more specific to the nominated occupation. Besides that, explain the employment duties and responsibilities you had in the field. It should be in a way that highlights your strengths.

Other Important Things to Remember When Writing your Employment Reference Letter:

For an effective employment reference letter, you should hire the premium RPL report writing services. Here, a professional can prepare an excellent employment reference letter to enhance the quality of your ACS RPL report.

Aside from this advice, we want you to pay heed to the following key areas of your employment reference letter:

  • Confusion-free details of the employment time:

Prepare a list of the points you need to write in your actual job experiences. You must not copy content by copying from online samples. As per the ANZSCO code, any work experience you give must be relevant and clear.

  • Work experience details:

You must have sufficient work experience to fulfill the skill level standards before submitting your report. Only by fulfilling this requirement, you will be counted as a skilled employee and eligible for migration points. When submitting the employment reference letter, mention your work details and the tasks you performed. Here, you need to highlight your competency areas.

  • Valid Signatures:

A fake signature can spoil the whole broth. So, you should avoid it. Have your reference letter verified by the employer or authorized personnel of your organization. Each and every detail of your responsibilities, position and roles must be genuine.
